Welcome to the Obsidian University Summer Internship Program!
The 2026 Obsidian University Summer Internship Program Applications are now open! The Summer Internship will be held onsite at our studio in Irvine, CA starting Tuesday, June 9th and ending Friday, August 28th. For anyone coming from out of state, housing will be available for the duration of the internship.
We will be accepting applications until January 30, 2026 at 5:00 PM Pacific Time. Once applications close, we will begin reaching out to candidates for interviews
What should I expect from this opportunity?
You will not do coffee runs. You will work directly on our games. You will test content and learn to give professional critiques and feedback. You will be welcomed as part of Obsidian’s culture and life.
• Work with mentors at the studio to learn the ins and outs of making Obsidian games.
• Receive portfolio and work reviews to help you with your future in the industry.
• Participate in organized lunches and social events with different developers at the studio meeting a variety of disciplines and personalities.
• Learn from Obsidian developers beyond your mentors in organized panels and talks during your internship.
F.A.Q.
When can I expect to hear back about my application? (Obsidian University 2026)
We begin reviewing applications once the applications close and will reach out to candidates for interviews during this review process. We will update this page and our socials when applications have closed and when final selections have occurred.
When is the deadline to apply?
Applications will close on Friday, January 30th at 5:00 pm PST.
What are the dates for the program?
The 2026 Summer Internship will start on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, and run through Friday, August 28, 2026. (Dates may be subject to minor changes.)
I am not local, do I have a chance?
Continuing from previous years, the Summer Internship Program will be providing housing to non-local candidates. Chosen candidates will be housed near the Obsidian Campus.
We are only considering candidates that are either local or willing to relocate for the summer.
Is it okay if I can't make it for the entire internship?
Unfortunately, due to the short nature and packed schedule of the program, we are not accepting anyone who is planning to join late, leave early, or take a large leave during the internship.
Is this a paid internship?
Yes. Additionally, if there is any sort of program that your university offers for you to earn credits for internships, we're happy to work with you and your school to make that happen.
Will I get any cool free stuff?
Oh, you will get free stuff and we think it's pretty cool too.
